 Arrogant peacock

In a lush, vibrant forest lived a peacock named Percy, known for his dazzling feathers and even more dazzling arrogance. Percy strutted around, flaunting his iridescent tail, convinced he was the epitome of beauty and grace. He loved nothing more than showing off his plumage to the other animals, certain that none could compare to his magnificence.

One sunny morning, as Percy preened himself by the crystal-clear pond, he noticed a humble sparrow named Sammy building a nest nearby. "What a dreary little bird," Percy thought, puffing up his chest. "Surely, no one could find that dull creature interesting."

Percy decided to display his feathers in a grand fashion, hoping to draw a crowd. As he spread his tail wide, sunlight glinted off every vibrant eye-spot, and the forest seemed to hold its breath. But instead of the usual admiration, Percy heard whispers and giggles.

Curious, he turned to see what was happening. To his surprise, the animals were gathered around Sammy, watching in awe as she intricately wove her nest. Percy felt a pang of confusion and jealousy. "Why are they fascinated by that?" he huffed.

An old tortoise named Tilly, wise and slow, noticed Percy's distress. "Beauty isn't just about appearances," she said gently. "Sammy's skill and hard work are admirable too."

Percy pondered Tilly's words and realized there was more to life than just looking splendid. From that day on, Percy began to appreciate the talents and qualities of others, becoming known not just for his beauty but also for his newfound humility.
